The East Valley JCC welcomed some special guests this past week: a group of more than 60 girls from NCSY GIVE West, a summer travel and volunteering trip for teen girls.

On Tuesday afternoon, June 30, the teens joined Camp Rimon campers (grades K-6-), and pre-K children in the Early Learning Center’s Summer Fun at the J program. Together, they enjoyed an afternoon of reading stories, working on crafts, playing games and building with Legos and blocks.

While in Arizona, the group also visited the Grand Canyon and volunteered with other organizations.

Stuart Katz, CEO and founder of TAL Tours, a  coordinator for the NCSY GIVE West program, reached out to Camp Rimon to share how much the girls enjoyed their visit. “It has been one of the highlights of their time here in Arizona, and your warmth and hospitality made it truly special,” Katz wrote.

Pam Morris, EVJCC Early Childhood Director, expressed similar gratitude. “We feel so blessed that the NCSY GIVE West group spent Tuesday afternoon with us,” she said. “The girls brought K’lal Yisrael (the Jewish community) to our children through chesed (kindness), engagement and fun!”
