Tuesdays at the J: Female Couturiers
Presentation by Phoenix Art Museum Docent JoAnn Stultz
Free | Reservation required
Our journey begins in the 1890s as we take a brief look at women and how they were perceived. We travel in time to the beginning of the 20th Century and consider the global cultural changes and events that drove some designers to create a wardrobe for this new “Modern Woman.” This woman had specific needs and desires for her attire. You will meet four designers that addressed the changing fashion of the time: Jeanne Paquin, the Callot Soeuers, Madeleine Vionnet, and Jeanne Lanvin, each with their own special connection to the fashion industry.
