Chandler City Councilman Sam Huang surprised Michael Noffke with a surprise visit on March 26 to deliver balloons and a T-shirt and film a video for a City of Chandler project for National Volunteer Week.

Chandler City Councilman Sam Huang surprises Michael Noffke on March 26 with a visit to the East Valley JCC to thank him for his volunteer work.

Noffke, a parent of two children in the East Valley JCC’s Early Childhood Learning Center, received the Strong Arms Award from the City of Chandler earlier this year for his volunteer work at the school. He was recognized on Feb. 7 at the City of Chandler’s annual Volunteer Recognition Awards Program at the Chandler Center for the Arts.

Noffke’s work includes several pieces of woodwork for the students, including a weaving board, music board and a sandbox. He also refurbished the 2s sandbox, painted the multipurpose room and organized spaces at the facility.

The video was shown on the city’s social media channels this week as part of National Volunteer Week.
