Nov. 8: Desert Rock Stars
Art in Ancient Arizona and the Southwest

Presented by Phoenix Art Museum docent Patrick Ventura

Join this conversation about an ancient advanced civilization that existed here in Arizona and the Southwest. This civilization thrived literally right under our feet. These people were not nomads, living in teepees and foraging for plants and wild animals. They stayed in one place, built cities and made great art and architecture. They mysteriously disappeared around 1300 CE, long before the Spanish set foot in the Americas.

About the presenter

Patrick Ventura is a recently retired architect with a lifelong interest in art and architectural history. Volunteering as a docent for the Phoenix Art Museum is a satisfying way for him to continue learning about art and passing something along to others. “This talk is special to me because as an avid Arizona hiker, I have been fortunate to see some of the artwork and buildings these ancients left behind,” says Ventura.
