Presented by Sandy Bernoff

A message from presenter Sandy Bernoff:

Surprise,  Surprise, Surprise (but not for me),  interest in Yiddish is popping up all over the WORLD. Do you speak Yiddish? Did you hear Yiddish spoken as a child? Do you understand a bisl or a lot?? Do you know anyone who speaks Yiddish?

  • Do you know where Yiddish programs were hosted this summer?
  • Do you know which colleges offer Yiddish language and /or literature classes?
  • Do you know any Yiddish songs?
  • Did you know young people are writing new Yiddish music?
  • Do you know where the Yiddish “Fiddler on the Roof”  will be presented next?
  • Do you know which popular book for preteens, teens and adults a young man recently translated into Yiddish?
  • Do you know that a new Yiddish dictionary printed in 2016 includes words for tech?
  • Do you know about the Yiddish Book Center programs in Amherst? Have you been there?
  • Did you know that Yiddish and its culture and literature was an important part of Ashkenazi Jewish life for over a thousand years??

Join us at the EVJCC on to find the answers to these questions and more…

Bring the answers you have and any info you find on Yiddish today…Can you think of 5 Yiddish words you know?
Looking forward to spending Yiddish time with you, Sandy
