Tuesdays at the J is a group for individuals and couples ages 55-plus who meet weekly to enjoy presentations on a variety of topics. The program starts with refreshments and conversation at 10 a.m. and the presentation starts at 10:30 a.m. Free, registration required.
Dec. 12: A Special Chanukah Program
A musical performance by local Klezmer band Odessa (at 10:30 a.m.)
Followed by a light nosh and a 12 p.m. discussion with Rabbi Michael Beyo (EVJCC CEO) about his recent trip to Israel
Odessa has been performing around the Valley for over 10 years as an evolving mix of local Klezmer musicians.
The group was named after the city Odessa in the Ukraine, a hotspot of Klezmer music for centuries and birthplace of the grandparents of the band’s founder, Stu Siefer. We hope you enjoy Odessa’s interpretation of this Jewish “soul music,” including its intersection with Yiddish theater music and jazz.
