How I Wrote and Published my Debut Novel
Presenter: Howard Gershkowitz, author of “The Operator”

10-10:30 a.m. coffee and conversation:
10:30-11:30 a.m. presentations

Howard Gershkowitz’s journey to become a published author started nearly eight years ago, when at age 55 he decided to go back to school to work on his creative writing skills. His presentation covers the period surrounding the writing, editing, submission and release of his debut novel, “The Operator,” and includes various insights into the nature of becoming a writer.

Howard Gershkowitz’s work has appeared in print and online, in such prestigious publications as Michigan State University’s quarterly The Offbeat and the Arizona Consortium of the Art’s Blue Guitar. Most recently, he took first place in the 2018 Tempe creative writing contest  judged by Arizona State University’s Creative Writing Department. An avid science fiction fan since childhood, he’s been inspired by the books of Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clark and Ray Bradbury. He’s studied at ASU’s Piper Creative Writing Center, as well as completing numerous workshops by such renowned authors as Stephen James and Robert Dugoni. In addition to his writing, Howard has served as an investment professional and registered investment adviser for the last 34 years.

A $4 donation is requested at the door. No membership required. Copies of “The Operator” will be available at the discounted price of $15 each.
