Award-winning author and speaker Marcia Fine has written eight novels, including her most recent one, “Love and Death in Rhodes” released in January 2020. Her books include “The Blind Eye: A Sephardic Journey,” which is a work of historical fiction that was chosen by the state library of Arizona for ONEBOOK AZ 2015. Her book “Paper Children: An Immigrant’s Legacy” has been a finalist for three national prizes. Her other books are “Paris Lamb,” which deals with anti-Semitism in the 1950s; “Hidden Ones,” which examines conversos in Mexico during the Inquisition; and a satirical series about Scottsdale.

Based on actual history and a true story,”Love and Death in Rhodes” follows the lovely Luna, who learns the hardest lessons of life that change her destiny. Told in three parts, it recalls the visit of Shabbatai Tzvi, a false prophet, who visited the island in the 1600s and the actual story of Babatha, a woman from biblical times who left behind the largest archive of letters ever found in a cave.

A $4 donation is requested at the door. No membership required.
