Opening Reception: From Nuremberg to Hollywood

The East Valley JCC and the Greater Phoenix Jewish Film Festival are sponsoring the opening reception for the “Filming the Camps by John Ford, Samuel Fuller, and George Stevens” exhibit Memorial de la Shoah that will be on display at Scottsdale Community College Jan. 27-April 30.
The reception is by invitation-only.
“Filming the Camps: John Ford, Samuel Fuller, George Stevens, From Hollywood to Nuremberg,” is a documentary film that captures the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps. Created and circulated by the Mémorial de la Shoah in Paris and curated by filmmaker and historian Christian Delage, “Filming the Camps” presents rare footage of the liberation of Dachau, burials at Falkenau and documentary footage for the Nuremberg trials after the war. The film will be shown at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 10.
The keynote speaker at the opening reception is Jacques Fredj, executive director of Mémorial de la Shoah. He is the curator of numerous exhibitions and the author of publications in France related to the history of the Holocaust. The event is free and open to the public.
