Passover Crafts

Seder Leader Pillow

Seder Leader Pillow

What You'll Need:

  • One white or light-colored pillow case
  • Fabric crayons
  • White paper
  • Iron

How to Make It:

Using the fabric crayons, draw a Passover picture on the white paper. For instance, you might draw seder objects (see this template for ideas). With a grownup's help, iron your drawing onto the pillow case. When the pillow case is cool, cover a pillow with it for a special place for the seder leader to recline.

What You'll Need:

  • 12x12 inch squares of felt (two per pillow)
  • Glue
  • Batting for stuffing
  • Markers
  • Additional felt, glitter, sequins and other decorative objects

How to Make It:

Lay one square of felt flat on a table. Run a thin thread of glue along three edges. Press the second piece of felt onto the first, being careful to line up the edges. Let dry completely. Stuff the felt squares with batting and glue the fourth side together. Let dry completely. Write the name of each seder guest in marker on his or her pillow. Decorate the pillows with additional felt. With a grownup's help, cut out seder objects (see this template for ideas). You can also add glitter, sequins and other pretty objects to the pillows.

Elijah's Cup

Elijah's Cup

What You'll Need:

  • Empty frozen juice container
  • Aluminum foil
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • One recipe flour-salt dough
  • Poster paints
  • Floor wax or hair spray

How to Make It:

Wrap the juice container in a sheet of aluminum foil. Spray with non-stick cooking spray. Shape the flour-salt dough around the juice container. Air dry. Paint or decorate as desired. Have an adult help you "varnish" the candle holders with floor wax or hair spray. Stand Elijah's cup in a place of honor on the seder table.

Tissue Paper Flower Centerpiece

Tissue Paper Flower Centerpiece

What You'll Need:

  • Several sheets of colored tissue paper
  • Scissors
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Styrofoam or paper cup
  • Markers or crayons
  • Salt

How to Make It:

Cut 8 to 12 5-inch circles of tissue paper. Holding them together, poke a hole in their center. Insert a pipe cleaner through the hole. Twist a knot at the top of the pipe cleaner. Bring the first tissue circle up toward the middle around the pipe cleaner knot and crumpled slightly to make it stand up. Repeat, arranging each petal. Make as many flowers as you wish.

Decorate the paper cup with markers or crayons. Fill the cup about halfway with salt to stabilize it. Insert the pipe cleaner flowers into the salt to keep them upright. Place your flower arrangement in the center of the seder table for a beautiful centerpiece.

Seder Plate

Seder Plate

What You'll Need:

How to Make It:

Use the templates to trace the seder plate objects (see this template for ideas) or draw your own on color construction paper. Cut out the objects. Place the objects on one plate, about in the position where the real objects will go. Run a thread of glue around the edge of the plate. Carefully place the second plate onto the first. Press the plate edges firmly to secure. Wipe off any excess glue with a wet paper towel.
