Lifecycle Events

In Jewish thought, life is often depicted as a cycle, and Judaism lends the passage of time a rhythm, dignity and meaning by marking this cycle with momentuous, often beautiful ceremonies. The four major lifecycle events celebrated in Judaism are birth (bris and simchat bat), coming of age (bar mitzvah and bat mitzvah), marriage (weddings) and death (funerals and shiva).
