Happy Thanksgiving

GIVE THANKS AT THE JCC

Wednesday, November 24, will find children and staff of the JCC School celebrating at the Annual Thanksgiving Feast. Children learn special holiday songs and create decorations for their classrooms and the dining tables. As we retell the story of the pilgrims and their difficult early months in this country, the plenty, which was enjoyed later on, reminds all of us how fortunate we are. Best wishes to all of you for a happy holiday.

VETERAN'S DAY MINI CAMP

A WINNING NIGHT

Almost 250 party-goers attended the JCC "Bet On Our Future" Casino Night held at the Pollack's ranch. A fabulous silent auction, yummy food, lots of gaming tables, raffles galore, gorgeous weather, great company, lots to look at, a live band, valet parking, open bar and schmoozing with new and old friends made this year's event even better than last year's blow out.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who contributed to the event's success, particularly the Casino Night Committee: Jon Marks, Daryl Edson, Jodi Berke, Leah Zilberman, Julia Miessner, Courtney Weintraub, Cynthia Benedict, Sonja Trontz, Lori Friedson and Shari Davis. Our appreciation goes to Blair Dworkin for designing the outstanding invitations, to Nancy, Lisa, Cyndy, Carol, Howard and Richard and to everyone who helped during the event. We wish to express our deep gratitude to Meg Gabay for her tremendous efforts and support, and to our hosts, Cheryl and Michael Pollack.

DIRECT YOUR TAX DOLLARS

Arizona residents have the unique opportunity to contribute for scholarships to Jewish Day Schools. Our own East Valley Day School and JCC Kindergarten students are eligible to receive funds generated by the School Tuition Organization (STO). The amount you contribute simply reduces your state tax liability by the amount you donate up to $625. What a tremendous opportunity to direct your tax dollars toward Jewish Day School education. Envelopes for easy mailing are available at the front desk. Contributions may also be made by credit card.

ANNUAL RUMMAGE SALE KUDOS

A huge thank you to Diane Umeda for the Herculean effort she devotes each year to our annual garage sale.

Besides lugging all the donated items to her home, Diane sorts, washes and cleans if necessary, prices, displays and then works two days from the crack of dawn to sell as much as possible.

Her efforts have provided needed funding for those little "extras" for our classrooms.
