Summer Fun is Coming!

The excitement of summer and camp are just around the corner! And this summer promises to be just as fun as last summer! Our theme this summer is "Off Broadway" (since we are just off Broadway and the 101!). We're looking forward to seeing all our "old time" campers and meeting a few new campers too! Remember, we'll still have all of our traditional activities and events .... Sunsplash, Polar Ice, our annual Rock Show, swimming, away trips for the 3rd & 4th graders and the 5th thru 8th graders and the list goes on!

We're excited to be adding a new program this summer - The Getaway Gang! This program is open to any 7th, 8th or 9th grader who would like to "getaway" for a few days! You can sign up for just the Getaway trips or both the trips and camp. We will be offering 3 exciting Getaway adventures this summer: June 11th - 13th - California Bound; July 1st - 2nd & July 31st - August 1st - In & Around Arizona. And don't forget about the 9th grade CIT program! It promises to be a fun, learning, hands-on experience.

Camp dates are June 2nd - August 8th. Sign up by the week or for the entire summer! Registration begins March 3rd for JCC Members and March 10th for Non-Members. Camp is for children ages 3 (potty trained) thru 8th grade.

For Spring Camp & Summer Camp, call Lisa (480) 897-0588 for more details.

Mensch Of The Month

Recognition and thanks are long overdue to Lyman Wyman. Although he has helped the Center in a variety of ways for a long time, he truly outdid himself in the mitzvah department with the move to our current location.

Besides helping his wife, Brenda, set up the Centercare office, he moved furniture, cribs, boxes and more! He hung the resting mat racks and window blinds, did repairs, installed the shelves in the Early Childhood supply closet, and, most recently, helped set up the new Toddler Room scheduled to open this month. Thanks, Lyman, for all you've done to help the JCC.

2003-04 Registration Update

School registration for fall 2003 began on February 3. The past month has seen the registration of close to fifty students, with frequent phone or in-person inquiries.

We have a bumper "crop" of three year olds; our two 3's classes are already more than half full. An additional half-hour of school daily for 2's and 3's will enable both staff and children to accomplish more; time flies when you're having fun!

Contact Cynthia or Diane at 897-0588 for information about openings, registration or to set up a tour of our school.

Purim at the JCC School

Since Purim falls during this year's Spring Break, holiday activities at school have already begun so we can hold our annual Purim festivities on Friday, March 14th.

Our two year olds through kindergarten kids will be hearing the wonderful story of Esther and Mordecai, foolish King Ahasuerus and the villain of the story and everyone's favorite bad guy, Haman.

Children will make yummy hamantashen to eat and share in Shalach Manot baskets, have fun coming to school in costume, parading and attending the school's annual staff Purim spiel.

Throughout preparations for this fun and festive holiday, staff will emphasize the serious theme of standing up for your beliefs, accepting and valuing diversity, respecting each individual, doing mitzvot and working for peace.

New Room, More Toddlers

Our new Toddler Room is finally ready after much hard work by Brenda and Lyman Wyman and our custodial staff.

This room will be home to our older toddlers. The results from this new space will be two-fold. We will have more actual space so we'll be able to accept new toddlers in both rooms and, the age span in each room will be narrower so the planning of activities can be more age specific.

Watch us as we grow! And call us at 897-0588 for information.

Flower Frenzy

The JCC Day School will be selling beautiful flower arrangements for Passover as part of their spring fund-raising. We have chosen a new vendor for flowers this year - Flower Frenzy in Chandler will be designing these lovely arrangements. Samples of these arrangements will be available for viewing in the office Monday March 31st.

The cost for the holiday centerpieces are $25.00/ arrangement and bunches of flowers will cost $15.00 each. If you would like to order for this special occasion you can call Sharon Shelton at 897-0588 or complete an order form in the office no later than April 9th. Flowers will be available in the office before 11:00 a.m. on April 16th for the first seder.
