Town Hall Meeting To Be Held January 16
A "town hall" style meeting will be held January 16 at 7:00 pm at the JCC to provide an update on our pending location change. The meeting is open to all and will be hosted by David Wattel, President, George Goffman and George Jacobson, Planning Committee Co-Chairmen.Questions or input can be faxed to (480) 517-0124 or e-mailed to eastvalleyjcc@aol.com prior to the meeting, and as many as possible will be addressed. Discussion with those in attendance will help all JCC members better understand the opportunities and constraints we face at this very important point in the history of the East Valley JCC. Please try to attend!
A Great Night Happened
News Chopper 12, commercial airlines, as well as flocks of birds migrating south noticed a slightly golden haze with a familiar scent hovering over 1965 E. Hermosa Drive on December 19th. It was the Annual JCC Hanukkah Latke Party.Thanks to committee members Howard Paley, Amy Bley, Maira Zanrosso, Andrea Waxman, Laurie Ebright, Jodi Brumble and to Cynthia Benedict, the ECE Committee, Meta Rose, Dave Wattel, Jill Barenbaum, Daivd Cukier, Linda Rickel, George Goffman, Becky Kahn, Vicki Krell, Teresa Robinette, Michael Waxman, Deena Cukier, Susan Wilks, and all the other volunteers who helped make this event the best ever.

Cooking with Karen
In time for Super Bowl Sunday and for all those busy chief cooks and bottle washers, Karen will prepare a variety of delicious "one pot" meatless dinners; easy savory and nutritious meals which can be made ahead and will satisfy even the largest appetites for entertaining or for your own families. Southwestern Chili Stew, French Onion Soup, Vegetable Pasta Soup and Mexican Chili are just some of the foods which will be demonstrated. Tasting and recipes are included. SCHOOL YOUTH CAMP
2001-02 School Year Registration Begins
On February 1, 2001, registration for the 2001-02 school year begins at the JCC. A place may be reserved for any child in the age groups we serve with a deposit in the amount of one month's tuition. The deposit will be credited to May 2002 tuition.During the first two weeks in February, registration is open to children currently enrolled in the JCC School, Day School, Centercare or their siblings. After that period, spaces will be filed on a first-come, first-served basis until maximum enrollment has been reached.
For the 2001-02 school year, classes will be available for children who will be 2 years old by September 1, 3 year olds, half or full day pre-kindergarten (4s), half- or full-day kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade.
Preschool hours are 9-11:30; pre-k and kindergarten 9-11:30 or 9-2:30; 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade 8:30-3:00. Daycare is available from 7-9 am before school and after school until 6 pm.

Save the Date for A Shabbat Experience
A family Shabbat dinner will be held on Friday, February 2, 6:00pm at the JCC for the East Valley Jewish Community Center's 1st and 2nd graders and their families. Linda Feldman from the Bureau of Jewish Education will explain some of the rituals associated with Shabbat and the day school children will participate in the Shabbat program. A traditional Kosher dinner will be catered. More information will follow.Daddy & Me
Climb aboard a fire engine, try on a fire fighting helmet, slide down the fire pole, play in the kids area, and check out the different types of fire engines as we take a tour of the Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting on Sunday Jan. 21st from 2:30 - 4:00pm. Executive Director, Ilene Blau, and First Grade teacher, Deena Charnofsky, will attend the annual Jewish Community Day School Conference in Las Vegas on Jan. 21 - 24. Resident scholars will join day school administrators from around the country to focus on the integration of Judaica into general studies curriculum.You're Invited
An Open House for those parents of children who are interested in the JCC's Kindergarten, first and second grade classes and proposed third grade class are invited to meet our staff, visit our classrooms and hear how the Jewish Community Day School Scholarship Fund may make private education at the JCC possible for your child. Scheduled for Tuesday, January, 30 at 7:00pm, this meeting is for parents and their children 5 years of age and older.|
